Paul Smith Spring / Summer 2013 Men’s Ready-To-Wear Collection by Paul Smith.
Paul Smith went for the rainbow in his latest Spring/Summer 2013 collection.
Strong shoulder fitted suits with skinny tailored trousers were all on trend. In fact the trousers were some of the tightest we’ve seen on any catwalk. Print also featured strongly in the collection with fabrics splattered with a dissected rose image. There was peach, forest green, mint, pale blue, rose, vermillion and lemon yellow rendered in slim contemporary silhouettes that radiated almost a 60s vibe. This season’s Paul Smith man is happy, confident and in love with colour.

“For a show of 12 minutes, you want to make a strong impact. Of course you show some suits that are red, but not many people actually wear those suits. Not many people go for the full bright colour, but it’s nice as elements: a jacket with blue jeans and so on.” My shows have always had a rock’ n’ roll aesthetic, Sir Paul continued. ” I come from an era where boys were dressing like girls a lot, with long hair, more bohemian, more hippy, and print was what we did to look different from the previous generations. We made shirts out of curtains and jackets out of pillow cases. Anything went.”Wearing buckled leather sandals and clutching giant bags, there was a bit of the boys like girls dressing, but generally it was clothes all boys want to wear.
